It's "B" week - "B" is for bones, ballerinas, butterflies, bears, bees, and Bunyan (Paul Bunyan)

It's "B" week and so far we have read about a ballerina that posed for the famous French artist Edgar Degas.  He painted several pictures of ballerinas.  The book we read was Marie in Fourth Position The Story of Degas' "The Little Dancer" by Amy Littlesugar.  I enjoyed reading this story.  Yesterday we looked at the bones of the human skeleton and did a few activities.
1. Pin the bone(s) on the correct place on the body

2. skeletonis made from pasta pieces.  I found the idea in Family Fun magazine for October 2011

3. Edible bones made from pretzel sticks, mini marshmallows, and white melting chocolate chips.  I found this idea in the October 2011 Family Fun magazine as well.
We also received our Painted Lady Butterfly larva just in time to watch them go through metamorphosis.  Maybe we'll have some entering the pupa stage very soon!

Stay tuned and I'll share some more photos of Painted Lady's progression!
